Water's edge , located near
Murray Kentucky, is situated on Kentucky Lake.......... America's
premier fishing place for Crappie , Bass, and Catfish. Kentucky Lake is one of the
largest "man-made " lakes in the nation. It's construction began in 1938 after
the flood of 1937 and began filling up in 1944. It's main function was to control flooding
and to provide commercial navigation. The dam, provides and generates over 1.3 billion
KWatts of electricity annually. The lakes area provides tourism and great fishing , year
round.
The crappie seem to be the most sought after game
fish . This area boasts of some of the best winter and spring crappie fishing in the
Nation. A number of fish species can be caught successfully here, as well. Red-ear (
shell-cracker) , bluegill, largemouth bass, catfish, carp, spoonbill ( shovelbill) and
many other species.
The area has so many other things to offer, like horse-back riding, hiking,
camping,water sports, and historic site seeing.
